The Thursday Report

It is 3:00 AM Friday morning and I can't sleep.

Yesterday was just another day. I don't think there was much progress in Jeanne's condition. She is still very dizzy which makes her feel sick. The headache continues. They have tried a number of medications to treat each symptom but nothing is giving much relief.

Mentally it is taking its toll on both of us. Jeanne had a couple of panic attacks Thursday thinking she could not get her breath. All of the charts looked good, the oxygen level was good, and so was the blood pressure so I think it is more of a mental issue. She is so scared right now! (So am I)

Having said this I will tell you she is a trooper. She did get up and walk a little in the morning, and with help she is making it to the bathroom. She has spent some time sitting in a chair. All of these things are major accomplishments at this point in time.

The nurses love her, so she does get good attention. She is very polite and always smiling when she talks to them. What else would you expect? That’s my girl!

Please pray. I think if we could pray for her to get her balance back that would allow her to be released. The doctor told her yesterday that the headache could go on for a few weeks. I believe that learning to live with the pacemaker is going to be a long process also.

We both look forward to your comments and support.

Thank You!

  1. Skip and Jeanne, We continue to pray, and check the site several times a day.

From my Dad's experience with the pacemaker, he has a naturally very low heartrate. His was set to cause his heart to beat too rapidly. It caused quite a problem for him, and he had to have the rhythm reduced. That helped.

I hope that today will show some improvement in the vertigo. That is such a debilitating feeling. Our continued prayers for you both.

  2. We are keeping close attention with Jeanne's progress as well - I can only imagine how you both must feel right now. This has taken you beyond anything you expected. Please know that our prayers are with you continually and you both are our first topic of conversation in the morning.
Skip, I hope and pray you are not there next week for your sake, but I am driving to Denver next Wednesday to spend a few days with the kids. I will of course come to see you if you are still there.
I wish there was more we could do for you at this point but just know we are with you.

  3. Skip & Jeanne,

First thing we do in the AM is check your blog. We are so sorry that yesterday was such a tough day. Hopefully today will be easier on BOTH of you.

It doesn't surprise us that Jeanne is such a "trooper." She doesn't complain and, in fact, doesn't even mention aches and pains unless asked. I'll bet the nurses do love her.

You keep that strong will and attitude, Jeanne, and we ARE praying for you.

Skip, we really appreciate this blog. The details of how Jeanne is doing, you are coping and what the doctors are saying is so helpful.

    Love,
    Terry & Scott

  4. Skip and Jeanne

The sun is up high enough to begin warming the whole ranch. The winds are moving lightly, just enough to have the pines whispering. The deer and the antelope are playing, literally. The Trautman steaks are awaiting your return. C'mon back.

    Love, Jan and Steve

  5. How could the nurses not love Jeanne!? :) Glad to hear that there is some progress yet again today. It's baby steps to be sure, but still it is steps forward toward recovery. God is taking care of you both and we all continue to pray. You are constantly on our minds. There is never a day that goes by that we aren't thinking of you both. Hang in there, I know its tough. If you need some of us to come visit I'm sure we can get a group together for an overnight trip. Just say the word! :) Love to you both, Angie, Dale and kids.

  6. I wish there was something we could do that would be of immediate comfort to you skip.It really sounds like you're in a great facility and that's big. All hospitals are not created equal. Your choice was good. All your family and friends are thinking of you guys and the stream of prayers is steady. The ranch is beautiful. I walked around your house, Turkeys on the deck, all is well. We'll be out as soon as you're home. Stay strong
    Dave
